Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ.
For over 40 years, Samaritan’s Purse has done its utmost to follow Christ’s command by going to the aid of the world’s poor, sick, and suffering. Samaritan’s Purse is an effective means of reaching hurting people in countries around the world with food, medicine, and other assistance in the Name of Jesus Christ.
In the summer of 2014 as ISIS advanced, Samaritan’s Purse responded to the crisis in northern Iraq as only it could: partnering with local Christians to provide food, shelter and other aid to 60,000 refugees. Samaritan’s Purse addressed the immediate needs by airlifting 80 tons of relief supplies, constructing 240 multi-family tents, distributing140 tons of food staples and provided bedding, clothing and other supplies for those displaced from their homes. Samaritan’s Purse continued its ongoing, sustained relief by also providing sanitation facilities, water, medical facilities and basic care, treating about 100 people per day.
